Mrs Court
Online Safety Lead

We are a 360 safe accredited school.

Schools that are able to show good practice in their Online Safety policy and procedures can apply for the Online Safety Mark.

To apply for the award, the school must meet the benchmark level for every aspect in the tool and, in their review, add a commentary for every aspect. That commentary must describe the provision for each aspect and how it meets the benchmark level statement. When this is complete the school should make an online application to SWGFL.

Following the application, the Assessor will check the completed 360 degree safe self-review tool to ensure that the school appears (through the commentary for each aspect) to have met the benchmark levels and is ready for an Assessor to visit. The school is then visited by an Assessor for a half day visit and is informed at the end of the visit if they have been successful.

Tips for Keeping Safe Online
  • Make sure you keep new online friends strictly online. If someone you don’t know asks to be your online friend you must ensure an adult knows about it.
  • Know how to use the CEOP Button and how to report it to the CEOP Centre if you are concerned about someone’s online behaviour towards you.
  • Internet security is a very important issue to all at St Bartholomew’s First School and we hope every child has a safe and happy experience whilst using the internet.
Swiggle

Swiggle.org.uk – for Child-Friendly searching.

Swiggle is a child-friendly search engine from the Online Safety experts at South West Grid for Learning (swgfl.org.uk).
Sometimes children can innocently come across images or content on a web site which may not be appropriate for their age and which makes them feel uncomfortable or upset. In school, filters are in place to block inappropriate content, but in our homes this may not be the case.
Let the Swiggle Bot character help keep your children safe while they are online and also help them become responsible internet users. For more information about how Swiggle works click here.
